How to make your own Homemade makeup Primer.

A flawless face is the basis of every great make up look, and while a great skincare regimen, foundation and concealer work wonders, makeup artists have another trick up their sleeves for stunning skin: primer. Primer preps your skin for the perfect foundation application by filling in fine lines and smoothing pores, and it also keeps your makeup looking fresh all day. Consider it the key to making your skin makeup-ready.

A primer may seem like an extra, unnecessary step in your already too long makeup routine, but when you need your skin to look pore level: Huddah, Vera style, it’s a necessary evil. But sometimes, it’s hard to justify spending 2000 shillings or more on a makeup step when your rent’s late and your zuku wifi just got disconnected and the price increased to 4800(they seriously need competition). There are no winners, and unfortunately, some things just can’t be justified with coupons or sales. So you DIY it.

How to make your face primer

There are a lot of homemade face primers out there, but this one works best for me!

I use sleek foundation
  • 3 Tbsp moisturizer or face lotion
  • 3 Tbsp aloe vera (preferably clear, but the green will work), I use fresh aloe vera gel
  • 1 ½ Tbsp foundation (that matches your skin tone)
  • empty lotion bottle or crock (sterilized)

Mix together moisturizer, aloe, and foundation. (You can even include a few drops of sunscreen if you want!) Mix the solution with a clean spoon. When you’re ready to apply the primer, use a brush, your fingers, or a sponge.
